AlphaTheta becomes Pioneer DJ
The year was 1938 when Pioneer was founded in Japan, with the first product being the A-8 Dynamic Speaker. Pioneer developed a broad portfolio of products, primarily within car and home entertainment. In 1994, Pioneer launched the world’s first CDJ, the CDJ-500, a top-loaded CD player designed for professional DJs.
Pioneer DJ Corporation
The first product launched under the Pioneer DJ brand was the XDJ-RX, which was launched in 2015. That same year, Pioneer Corporation moved its DJ equipment business into a new company named Pioneer DJ. Employees and engineers working on DJ equipment were transferred to the new company, Pioneer DJ Corporation.
AlphaTheta Corporation
In 2020, Pioneer DJ was renamed AlphaTheta Corporation and came under new ownership by the Japanese company Noritsu. There were no changes to staff or engineers. AlphaTheta continued to produce DJ products under the Pioneer DJ brand. In 2024, the first DJ products under the new AlphaTheta brand were launched.
