Congas

Congas drums are part of the percussion family and are used to support the music with a rhythm. The instrument consists of two wooden shells with strong drum heads on top. One is tuned as low, the other as Lights. Occasionally, a set of congas is expanded to include fire drums.

Congas are very popular in Cuban music and are often found in salsa music. Through Latin American dance music, congas have also made their way into modern American and European music.

What is the difference between congas and bongos?

Congas are larger and longer in body than bongos, and congas are usually mounted on a stand. Conga drums have a deeper sound than the smaller bongo drums.

Like bongo drums, congas are played with the hands, alternating between rim shots and strikes in the middle of the drum head with the palm, fingertips, and fist. Depending on the technique, the tone of the drum changes.
In our webshop, you will find a wide selection of both conga drums, djembes, bongo drums, cajons, and other percussion instruments.
