If, for example, you’re a DJ who travels a lot, a pair of classic over-the-ear headphones isn’t always practical. They’re bulky and awkward to bring on a plane, especially if you want to protect them and keep them in a case. This lifestyle is better suited to a good pair of in-ear DJ headphones, and even though they may not isolate sound as much as over-the-ear headphones, they don’t shut the DJ off from the audience as much, and allow them to interact with and respond to them more easily.

But unlike more normal in-ear headphones, DJ headphones need to be easy and quick to take out of and put into your ears without too much fumbling. And they need to fit securely, even if you move around a lot behind your DJ decks.
