Concert ukulele comes in all colors

The concert ukulele is a blend between tenor and soprano. It has a deeper and fuller sound than a soprano ukulele, but at the same time, it has some of the familiar ukulele sound that we know from the soprano ukulele. Most often, a concert ukulele has a scale length of 15"/39 cm and an overall length of 23"/57 cm. Additionally, this type is usually cheaper than a tenor ukulele.

Above, we have a large selection of concert ukuleles that can be used by both beginners and advanced players. They come in several different colors and various types of wood, with or without a case.

How does a concert ukulele sound?

It still has the classic sound that a soprano ukulele has, while being a nice medium size. This is particularly practical if you are looking for a ukulele with a bit more space for your fingers. Another advantage of playing a concert ukulele is that you can achieve a bigger sound with its slightly larger body. It also uses the standard ukulele tuning of G C E A.

Advantages and disadvantages of a concert ukulele

The biggest advantage of a concert ukulele is undoubtedly that you can have the familiar ukulele sound while being able to play some deeper and fuller tones. Additionally, the fact that it is physically larger also means that it can play louder and is therefore more suitable for playing in larger gatherings, and it fits better for those who have slightly larger hands. On this ukulele, there is plenty of space between the frets on the neck.

The larger size can be a disadvantage if you want to take it traveling, or just on a small trip to the park or beach. The ukulele may not fit in the suitcase, and it is also most practical to carry around if it has its own case - unlike the soprano ukulele which can fit in a bag with other things.
