No drum set without a drum mat! The mat has several functions, but most importantly, it ensures that pedals and bass drum stands remain securely in place without shifting while you play. Additionally, the drum mat also protects the floor from getting marks from the bass drum pedal and bass drum legs. The fact that the mat can catch 'sawdust' from the drumsticks is just a bonus! If you play a lot of gigs, a drum mat with good markings for stands can also make it much easier to set up the kit quickly.

You can get drum mats in various sizes and designs. From small mats for a compact electronic drum set to those that accommodate a large rock drum set. Whether you prefer a discreet gray drum mat or one with a Persian pattern depends entirely on your taste, but in any case, it is important to get hold of a good drum mat - otherwise, you'll end up with marks on the floor and stands that 'wander' away!
