Ernie Ball 2811 Flatwound Cobalt is for those who want the smooth, quiet flatwound feel, but miss attack, punch and clarity in the mix. The cobalt alloy in the winding delivers a stronger magnetic response to your pickups, giving you more output and more decisive articulation – especially on the lower strings, where many flats can otherwise feel “too soft” around the edges.

The construction is flatwound with a satin-like, even surface without the classic grooves of roundwounds. You feel it immediately under your fingers: less finger noise, silky-smooth sliding and a firm, controlled response that makes it easier to play cleanly and dynamically. Sonically, the set sits at the unusually bright and punchy end for flatwounds, with more clarity and attack, while still delivering a solid, focused low end and the elegant “flats” touch.
