Description

Ernie Ball 2805 Flatwound Group 2.5 – smooth feel and classic, focused bass tone

Get the iconic flatwound feel with less finger noise and a more controlled character than traditional roundwounds. Ernie Ball 2805 is a 4-string flatwound set for electric bass that delivers a clear fundamental, tight low-mids and a rounded top end, so your bass sits solidly in the mix without unnecessary “string noise”.

The strings are built with a stainless steel “flat ribbon” outer wrap, which feels smooth under your fingers and makes slides quieter and more comfortable. The tin-plated, hexagonal steel core provides a solid, stable response and tight intonation, while the flatwound construction typically keeps its core sound long after break-in, so you don’t have to chase the right tone week after week.

The set is long scale for standard electric bass (typically 34"), and the gauges are .045/.065/.085/.105 corresponding to 0,114/0,165/0,216/0,267 cm, which hits a light/medium tension range that suits most 4-strings. If you play string-through-body or have an unusual bridge/headstock setup, it’s a good idea to check the string’s winding length relative to the tuning machines, so the outer wrap doesn’t end up where you need clean core.
