Ernie Ball 2735 Cobalt Bass Extra Slinky is a 4-string electric bass set designed to make your bass feel and sound more “on” straight away: higher output, clearer definition and a more immediate attack than many traditional alloys. The result is a full low end that still cuts through the mix, with overtones that open up without becoming harsh.

The cobalt wrap offers a strong magnetic response to your pickups, giving you a more defined attack and livelier dynamics, whether you play light fingerstyle or dig in harder. The roundwound construction delivers the classic, bright metal feel and a punchy, responsive attack, while the light Extra Slinky gauge feels more flexible under the left hand and makes fast phrasing, vibrato and bends easier.

The set is Long Scale and typically fits a 34" electric bass, which corresponds to approx. 86.4 cm scale length. It is ideal for electric basses with magnetic pickups, where the cobalt material’s output and clarity can really be used; if you mainly play through a pure piezo/acoustic pickup, the output advantage will be less pronounced. Extra Slinky (.040–.095) is perfect for light playing and articulation, but if you play very hard or tune far down, a thicker set may feel more stable.
